1080p gaming PC guide: choose FPS and game type before overspending

1080p is a practical first-PC target because it reduces GPU demand and can redirect budget toward frame rate, a balanced CPU, or a lower total cost. Resolution alone is not enough, though: competitive, AAA, simulation, casual, and mixed workloads can place very different demands on the system.

Choose the FPS target next. A 60 FPS gaming PC and a high-refresh competitive system are different CPU and GPU problems. FirstPC Match models resolution together with target FPS and game type so a generic 1080p label does not hide the real performance requirement.
